Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face

Be glad your nose is on your face,
not pasted on some other place,
for if it were where it is not,
you might dislike your nose a lot.

Imagine if your precious nose
were sandwiched in between your toes,
that clearly would not be a treat,
for you'd be forced to smell your feet.

Your nose would be a source of dread
were it attached atop your head,
it soon would drive you to despair,
forever tickled by your hair.

Within your ear, your nose would be
an absolute catastrophe,
for when you were obliged to sneeze,
your brain would rattle from the breeze.

Your nose, instead, through thick and thin,
remains between your eyes and chin,
not pasted on some other place--
be glad your nose is on your face!

For this post I did a poem. The poem is called Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face by Jack Prelutsky. This poem has a great meaning which goes along it. No, the theme is not to be glad your nose is where it is, the theme is be glad of what you have. 

In the poem it states, "Be glad your nose is on your face, not pasted on some other place". This goes very well with the stated theme. It means be glad of what you have and don't be jealous of what other people have. In the poem it also states, "for if it were where it is not, you might dislike your nose a lot". This also goes great with the theme because it states that if you had something else than what you already have, you will just get sad and want what ever you originally had.

The author has advance with the theme because at the beginning of the poem she just states to be glad you have a nose which is on your face, later in the poem she finds examples which helps support that claim.

This is a great poem because it has a great meaning of which come along with it.
